Altered Horizons

An art book co-created with Michel Langevin

Altered Horizons is a collaboration between Above The Void and Michel “Away” Langevin, expanding his hand-drawn sketches into new worlds using advanced digital tools while staying true to his iconic visual language.

From the legend of the Arachnix to the towering Colossi of Tentaculon, the universe imagined by Michel “Away” Langevin has always extended far beyond the page. Altered Horizons reimagines these mythic creations, evolving his original sketches into fully realized visual environments that immerse viewers in alien terrains, forgotten civilizations, and surreal architectures.

Built with deep respect for Away’s artistic legacy, the project serves as both tribute and forward-looking proposition: What happens when the essence of a handcrafted drawing is expanded with digital intelligence? How can technology illuminate the stories already hidden in every line?

Spanning conceptual fiction, visual research, and experimental image-making, Altered Horizons celebrates the tension between tradition and innovation — reminding us that creativity thrives not from replacing the old, but from redefining how it can evolve. The book also includes an introduction by Away and a behind-the-scenes look at the narrative and visual development process.
