Roadburn 2023

Above The Void created an hour-long visual backdrop for Imperial Triumphant’s 2023 performance at the prestigious Roadburn Festival, resulting in a striking fusion of experimental cinema and avant-garde metal.

Inspired by the monumental architecture of New York City, the visuals embraced a dark Art Deco aesthetic — towering geometry, metallic reflections, and oppressive symmetry — mirroring the band’s chaotic sophistication. Over the course of an hour, the performance evolved into a multi-sensory spectacle in which architecture, ritual, and dissonance collided onstage. The result was a standout moment of the festival: cinematic scale in service of musical extremity.
