Extending Voivod's rich graphical universe
ATV has built a long-standing creative partnership with Voivod, shaping the band's visual universe through video, animation, design, and digital storytelling. From music videos to symphonic concert visuals, merch, book collaborations, and special projects, the studio extends Voivod's iconic aesthetic into new mediums while preserving the raw spirit at the core of their identity.
Over the past few years, Above The Void became a central contributor to the band's multimedia presence, handling web development, social media content, and numerous visual projects that amplify the band's narrative themes. This creative partnership includes close collaboration with Away (Michel Langevin), resulting in T-shirt designs, original artworks, and a published book exploring Voivod's universe.
The collaboration also extends into merch development and event-specific artwork, such as T-shirt designs for Voivod's 2025 symphonic concerts, where the band's visual identity needed to transition into a large-scale orchestral context. Above The Void ensured that every piece remained aligned with the band's timeless visual codes.
In video production, Above The Void has directed multiple official videos for the band. 2022's "Quest For Nothing" was one of the first AI videos to be released by a major label and helped the studio gain its initial recognition.
ATV developed several custom AI models trained on Michel Langevin's distinctive visual styles, allowing the studio to generate new imagery that remains faithful to his evolving artistic language. By isolating different eras and aesthetics from his extensive body of work, ATV created specialized models that replicate his textures, linework, and surreal dystopian scenes. These tools enable rapid exploration of concepts, seamless expansion of the Voivod universe, and visually coherent material across videos, concert visuals, and experimental projects—all while respecting and preserving the integrity of Michel's original style.
Across music videos, promotional materials, concept art, and experimental side projects, Above The Void continues to build a visual archive that reinforces Voivod's presence as one of metal's most visually distinctive bands. The studio's work merges technology with artistic intuition, expanding the band's sci-fi, dystopian, and expressionist world into new digital territories.
